Available with XLR, BNC, Sub-D, RJ45, Cinch or Toslink Connectors
This module can optionally be supplied with different front panels, the electrical conversion remains the same. XLR sockets are suitable for constantly changing setups, while the Sub-D version is suitable for permanently wired installations. With the RJ45 variant, the four channels are connected to a socket and enable fast and cost-effective cable laying with conventional Cat5 cables (or better). The board is also available with the interfaces Cinch and Toslink, which are intended for receiving the consumer format S/PDIF.
Support of S/P-DIF Signals
Since the professional AES/EBU signal and the consumer format S/PDIF differ only in the electrical level, both formats can be received.
Adjustable Digital Gain
All inputs can be amplified or reduced by 20dB. A switchable limiter protects against overload.
Optional Sample Rate Converter
The optional sample rate converters in the inputs can be switched on manually or operated in auto mode; the board then automatically detects whether the incoming frequency corresponds to the NEXUS system clock.
Transparent Transmission of Additional Data in the AES3 Data Stream
The NEXUS network is able to transparently transmit an AES3 data stream including the additional data. If no data is available in transparent mode, Nexus internal data is output. In the case of additional data on only one channel, the data is taken over by the other channel.
Support of Legacy 96 / 192 kHz Audio Signals on both AES3 Channels
AES3 data in legacy format can be accepted and transferred by the XER card. They are available to the system as normal mono signals. Alternatively, they can also be transmitted unprocessed, transparently in the NEXUS system and output by an XET module.
Transparent Transmission of Compressed Audio Signals
The NEXUS XER board is able to transmit compressed signals that do not contain a linear PCM signal and output them elsewhere. Such data streams are automatically detected and can be muted by inserting a jumper.
Certified for Dolby-E Transmission
The XER card is certified for Dolby E data stream transmission by Dolby Laboratories, Inc. The signals can be transmitted via the NEXUS network to the XET, XHI or XMF boards and output there.
